The CCAC Library is now featuring the Excelsior Online Writing Lab as our preferred resource for writing and citations. Excelsior’s OWL not only has comprehensive citation modules, but also content on grammar, research, the writing process, plagiarism, critical thinking and many other relevant topics. Instead of just text, it includes multimedia, quizzes, videos, interactive PDFs and an online game to engage students. Even the layout seems to exceed Purdue’s effort.
Educator Resources provide tips for using OWL, assessment techniques, embedding OWL content and support for writing across the curriculum. Added bonus – Excelsior’s OWL is licensed under Creative Commons, so content can be adapted for OER purposes; it has replaced the text for ENG101 courses at Excelsior.
