Even if you are aquainted with searching on Google, a database search can be difficult at first. Sometimes a search can bring back too many or too few results. If you are struggling to chose a database, bring back enough results, or bring back specific results, use these tips and video guides to search more effectively. Search Tips

Use SIMPLE KEYWORDS in search boxes:

child welfare and poverty

Use Boolean Operator "Or" to expand a search:

child welfare or adolescent care or youth well-being brings back database results that address any of the three terms used.

Use Boolean Operators "And" & "Not" to narrow results:

child welfare and poverty brings back database results that address both child welfare and poverty.

child welfare not poverty brings back database results that address child welfare but exclude poverty.

Use LIMITERS to narrow the results:

Limiters will limit results to the selected date, article type, amount of the article available, etc.
